descriPTION
Handcrafted sculpture on Lecce stone, designed and created by artist Andrea Serra. The sculpture “Dance of the Tides” depicts the Posidonia dancing and wet nurse of the sea currents representing a harmonious and natural dance. The work conveys a sense of movement and fluidity by emphasizing the relationship between nature and the forces that govern it.
The work is entirely done by hand on this stone which is found only in a very few areas of southern Italy, namely in lower Salento in the province of Lecce. This particular stone of marine origin, rich in plant and animal fossils dating back approximately twenty million years (such as shells, marine plants and shark teeth), makes it suitable for working details. The fossils present are visible on the surfaces of the work and make it even more unique and fascinating.
The sculpture “Dance of the Tides” like every work by Andrea Serra, being hand-carved, is unique and signed in engraving by the artist.
